I struggled with putting the foil roll in, it didn't come with instructions and the most obvious way didn't work at first. There are two sturdy metal prongs on the inside facing each other and a plastic cylinder that logically the roll is placed on and then set into the prongs, akin to a toilet paper dispenser. However my first efforts were foiled (pun totally intended) because the prongs were set too far out, scraping and deforming the sides of the roll and preventing it from functioning properly. After a bit of head scratching I simply bent the prongs down a bit, which was not terribly hard, and thereafter the roll fit and functions. It doesn't fold it for you, which I thought I would like since a decade ago when I used to tear foils manually they weren't prefolded, but I suppose I am spoiled now. The main reason I did invest in this is because with the fold freak you have to stamp the top to cut and fold it, and that motion hundreds of times per day does aggravate my shoulder spur, especially if I'm not careful to work with my cart in front of or beside me so I'm not reaching back and pushing down. This metal dispenser does not include that feature, you simply tear the foil when it's the length you desire and fold it yourself before you place it under your section, so I don't regret the purchase as it's a good alternative to have for the sake of my shoulder.
