  • What’s the difference between the different foil weights?
    • This comes down to personal preference and what you feel most comfortable with. Light foil gives you the most bang for your buck as there are more feet on a roll or less aluminium used in a pre-cut pack. However, some people find it too flimsy. Alternatively, heavy foil is super strong, so we find that colorists who work with coarse hair say it works better. Our Framar family uses medium foil most often, which shows it’s the #1 choice.

  • What is embossed foil?
    • Embossed foil has a different texture than regular smooth foil. Many colorists feel that the embossed texture allows the foil to grip hair better, preventing slippage.

  • How do you use the Fold Freak?
    • The Fold Freak allows you to cut and fold your foil in one easy step. To open the dispenser, gently push open the bar from underneath. Once open, plug the inserts into each side of your roll of foil. Place the roll into the half circle slots, then pull out a sheet of foil. Close the lid to lock it, making sure it clicks into place. Once locked, the dispenser is ready to use. Simply pull out the foil to your desired length and gently press down the lid. Voila! You’ll have a custom length, perfectly cut sheet of foil with a folded edge. Happy foiling!

  • What makes Framar color brushes different and what are the different brushes used for?
    • Framar’s color brushes are made with our famous tapered AccuSoft bristles, designed to pick up and distribute color to hair evenly, quickly and precisely through any service. However, many feel that certain brushes are better for certain services. For example, brushes like the ones in the Triple Threat Set are great for your classic balayage, where something like the Power Painter would be better for heavily saturated balayage applications. Ultimately, it all comes down to personal preference.

    • Framar capes are sensitive to heat. To protect them from heat related damage, we recommend machine washing your Framar capes on cold and hanging to dry.

    • Peel off a strip to start. Then, adhere the strip to the forehead of your client. When the service is done, gently peel off and throw away.
